The Audio Toolbox Plus provides a comprehensive suite of acoustical analysis tools and test functions in a portable, calibrated device.

The Audio Toolbox Plus contains a flash-rom memory chip, is firmware based and fully field upgradeable. Additional firmware modules may be installed at any time.

The Audio Toolbox Plus ships preloaded with Contractor’s firmware, catering to contractors and consultants with an upgraded suite of acoustic analysis functions that includes 2 real time analyzers, an Energy Time Graph with RT60 calculations, a versatile Sound Study Graph, Noise Criteria, and speech intelligibility functions RASTI and %ALCONS; in addition to the analog audio test & measurement functions, and time code tools.

Although only one firmware package can be operating at a time, other modules such as the forthcoming Analysts firmware or Studio firmware can be loaded via a simple process.

Toolset

Acoustical Analysis: ANSI Sound Level Meter with slow, fast, peak, LEQ and Dosimeter modes, a 1/12th octave FFT Analyzer with 40 memories and cumulative averaging, ANSI filter-based 1/3 octave Real Time Analyzer, RT60 function, Energy-Time Graph with delay and graphical RT calculation, and a versatile Sound Study Graph – a recording sound level meter with filters that can record up to 24 hours of data

System Tools: Speech intelligibility functions including Rapid STI (RASTI) and percent loss of consonants (%ALCONS), an ANSI Noise Criteria (NC) meter, a Speaker Polarity Tester, a versatile Time Code Reader/Generator that supports all frame rates and formats, computes offsets, shows frame lock and can detect time code frame rate drift to 0.001 fps, and an audio-band two-channel digital Sample Scope.

Test Functions: A powerful, low-distortion sweep Signal Generator (1Hz to 22kHz sine waves) with pink and white noise (including octave and 1/3 octave band ANSI filters), stereo dB Level Meter and Frequency Counter, Impedance Meter (with sweep and watts calculation), and a Distortion Meter (THD+N) .

Utility Functions: Contain a Cable Tester, Phantom Power Tester, stereo headphone Monitor Amplifier, transmit memories to a PC/Mac function, user preferences, and setup and calibration functions.

ANSI A/B/C, Octave band, and 1/3 octave band filters are included for the Sound Level Meter, RT60, Energy-Time Graph, and the Sound Study Graph.

Larger LCD Display
The Plus display is 40% larger by area than the standard Toolbox display. With a 64x128 pixel super-twist LED-backlit graphic LCD, it is visible in all lighting conditions from darkness (with the backlight on) to full sunlight. It is readable from a much greater distance. Also, a contrast control knob has been added to fine-tune the display for any reading angle or light condition. Always on while running on AC power, the backlight can be turned on and off as needed when the unit is under battery power.

Removable microphone
The microphone included with the Audio Toolbox Plus is a detachable, calibrated measurement microphone. The microphone can be attached directly to the Audio Toolbox Plus, attached with a cable, or removed entirely when not needed. The Plus comes with a 6' Canare BNC cable standard. Cables up to 100' long may be ordered from TerraSonde. For even higher levels of performance the Precision Microphone System is available to measure lower noise levels and get flatter RTA response.

Inputs and Outputs
Like the ATB-1, the input and output connectors are recessed into the unit for protection (in the front and rear panels this time). In addition to the listed inputs and outputs, you will find a contrast knob (for the display) and battery pack door in the recessed panels.
Inputs: the Audio Toolbox Plus has two fully balanced XLR/1/4" TRS combo inputs, two gold-plated RCA phono connectors, one MIDI connector, and a BNC microphone connector.

Outputs: one balanced XLR output, one 1/4" stereo/TRS output, one gold-plated RCA phono output, one 1/4" stereo headphone jack, two MIDI outputs, and a speaker.
Computer interface cables: PC and Mac serial interface cables are included with the Plus. Use these for transferring the Toolbox memories to your computer for printing or storage, and for software upgrades. Also, the new Toolbox Communicator program will be available soon, allowing.

Stylish Housing
The Audio Toolbox Plus has a new all-metal aluminum and steel chassis. Built to last, the chassis consists of anodized aluminum, cast aluminum, and steel. It also incorporates a new built-in handle for easier toting, and a comfortable ergonomic design. The input and output panels, encoder knob, and display are all recessed for protection.

Dimensions: 12" x 6" x 2" (300mm x 150mm x 50mm)
Weight: 4lbs (1.8kg) including battery and microphone
Shipping weight: (in cardboard carton with power supply) 9 Lb. (4kg).
Internal rechargeable battery system
An SLA (sealed lead acid) rechargeable battery system is built in to the Plus. The battery will run the Plus for up to 3 hours (depending on backlight use) each charge, and will recharge itself whenever plugged in to AC power. Toolboxers can charge the battery in the unit while they use it, or order spare batteries that can be charged separately. Each battery has its own integral charging system, allowing Toolboxers to charge spare batteries directly from any AC connection. One thumbscrew holds the battery door closed and allows easy battery replacement anywhere, anytime.

Carrying case
The Audio toolbox Plus comes in a foam-lined plastic carrying case (similar to the case included in the ATB-1 Accessory Kit) to keep it looking good as new. The briefcase style carrier has places to store the included microphone, cables, and power adapter; there is also a slot for a spare battery.
